Video Montages

Ok, we get it.  We've been seeing pictures of you and your family on your vacation to Hawaii for almost half an hour now.  No we don't need to see it again to see the Pacific Ocean.  Yes, I've seen the Pacific Ocean with my own eyes before.
Stop!  I mean this didn't happen to me, but close.  We were at my great aunt and my great uncle's 50th wedding anniversary today and they had video montages (3 of them but we only watched two).  The two montages ended up to be between half an hour and an hour.
Honestly, I love my great aunt and my great uncle.  But the videos were just too much.  Like one was ok (about 20 minutes).  But the second one was a little excessive and unnecessary.  The reason that they had so many was that my great uncle's 80th birthday got snowed out and we were supposed to watch one then. And that would've been perfectly fine! (His 80th birthday was five years ago).
I mean the pictures were cute and everything but we stopped every 5-8 pictures for one-liners and explanations or stories that went with them.  And all the explanations were cute and everything about their honeymoon or the day they met, but again it was somewhat excessive and unnecessary.
By the end of the second one, my grandma was jokingly-but-not threatening to show them (not threatening them to their faces) all the pictures from our family history that in both parts ends up to be three or four hours.  Fun...

Useless Overspending

You know the whole saying that if you dont have the money, dont buy it?  Well, its true.  We all have those friends who have to have the new iPod touch even though they just got a new nano last month!  Do humans really not have enough self control?
It's not right to spend the money you dont have.  Thats called debt, people.  And if you do borrow money from a friend or parent, you pay it back!  I mean, im not the one to talk or anything because it takes me several weeks to pay friends back, but I eventually do.  It just takes me time to remember to.
So money is meant to spend as a reward.  Being in debt is nothing to reward yourself for.  You dont need to have that new $80 dress (whimper),  those $45 jeans are so not worth it, and you have a 54'' flat screen, you dont need to upgrade it to a 58''.  There are just some things that are overpriced and unnecessary.
Being one of the few people unaffected by the recession, I see people being broke all the time.  The prices       of everything are going up every single day.  People don't need to buy those new shorts when they come out in the new spring collection in January!  How about wait until at least March when you might be able to wear them.  Most likely, you will have to wait until after spring break to wear them.  Hell, if you buy them now, they might not fit you when it is weather appropriate to wear them.
Don't buy what you dont need (or at least dont need yet).  Save up and you might be able to buy a better quality one when the time is better.

Midterms

Even some teacher's dont agree.  What IS the point of midterms?  I quote one of my teachers, "You've taken a unit test on it, why do we have to quiz you again?"  Do we really have to sit in a classroom for an hour and a fifty-five minutes and wait for it to be over?
The ones that always take the longest are usually the ones that you think will be easier (English, History, ect) but no, those are the ones that take almost the entire time.  I mean really?!  Is having students take an 130 question test twice a day for four days a really good idea?  I know im complaining and everything, but its true!
And how long do we have to wait for our grades back?  I mean, teachers I give you credit and everything for making a really long test and grading over a hundred of them, but still.
So now we sit and wait for our terrible grades to come back.  Fun...  And the while point is to make sure you retain information from like 5 months ago (which we dont) but after making sure we memorize everything AGAIN, we will forget it in about a month.
So is it really worth stressing over to forgot it soon anyway?  Not really.  I've been freaking out these past two weeks making sure I have everything etched into my mind (which I still dont) and some tests end up to be a lot easier than planned.  So we freak out over nothing.  I finished my earth systems one in 30 minutes, algebra in an hour, and spanish in an hour and a half.  I mean, I didn't need the entire time, but i know some people do.
  So, midterms.  The point is...?
